Water Girl

This is a commission I painted for a nurse I work with. She took this around the time her daughter blossomed into womanhood, and this was her first 'girly' pose! It is set at Lake in the Woods in Oregon. 9 X 11 Acrylic on canvas.

Brilliant - I thought it was a photo. The hair highlights / shadows are very realistic

Really pretty...I love how you managed to get in a lot of fine details in the surroundings without detracting from the subject! Shy yet inquisitive...sort of Mermaidian :)

You have a nice sense of the integration of the subject into a meaningful background. Many portraits have the figure floating in a sea of pastel colors. I want the background to tell me something about the subject and be inseparable from it.

Artist Reply: Thank, I appreciate the positive words. I love painting the evergreens and mountains that we have here in Oregon! She was actually in that environment, so I cannot take credit for that, but I do like how the painting came out. Dixie
