The flowers here are from a plant that my husband Jay got me for my birthday. I love this plant. It's a pretty weird-looking plant, but that's just the kind I really like. The lesson I learned from this painting is that sometimes it's not worth trying to paint something realistically that doesn't look real. I think the same thing also applies to the birthday pastry that Danny gave to me. Still, it is such a cool-looking plant, that I felt like I needed to paint it. I'm happy that I did it.
