Banyan Stand

These trees are on Magnetic Is, Australia. I have always been fascinated by this species of tree, imagining cubbies, secret passage ways and children's games. However there is a darker side, barriers, false openings, claustrophobia and imprisonment. The work is 120cm x211cm and is on two panels joined together.

Artist Reply: Thanks Kathie, I think they are either banyan tree figs or strangler figs- I've been trying to find out for sure. There is a heap of them growing together on Magnetic Is. Yes I'm another Aussie.

Very interesting Lyn! Forests are great subjects for images and you've created a painting that one could stare at forever. All the forms come alive more and more as you look at it!
