A wonderful painting of a wonderful animal: the contrast between the indefinite background and the detail in the image of the horse is very well done, as is every part of this, the velvet softness of the nose, the gloss on his coat, and the roughness of his mane, and if any part were to be judged 'best', it must be the eye; is it possible that the reflection there is of the rider? perhaps with a lump of sugar? :) Gwen.
