The Planet Glor

I was very fortunate today to meet with A.E. van Vogt who wrote the book, The Voyage of the Space Beagle. He does not usually share his photos of the planets he has traveled to due to the skepticism and ridicule he encounters from the humans that are closed minded and often frightened about his description of his intergalactic discoveries. This photo shows the Planet Glor that existed billions of years ago and unfortunately was destroyed by massive atomic attack, and only one of its inhabitants known as an IXTL is known to have survived. Dr. Vogt feels it is urgent to know about the fate of the planet Glor since as earthlings we are engaging and creating dangerous world conflict that could lead to the horrible fate of the Planet Glor and its peaceful inhabitants. It will be a challenge to photograph this fascinating species now that only one remain to tell the story of the IXTL race and the ultimate destruction of their habitat. Ixtl's have complete control over a vast web of force emanating from its body, as well as over the atoms of its body. It can change the structure and solidity at will, passing through solid matter as easily as through air. This special species feeds on energy, and drops to a lower level of life force when deprived of sufficient amounts. The Ixtl can survive in any environment, even the depths of intergalactic space, for unlimited amounts of time. It can be killed only by a force such as an atomic explosion which suddenly and completely dissolves the binding energy of the atoms of its body The Ixtl evolved on this fascinating planet and made the planet Glor the center of an interstellar empire. Billions of years ago, Glor was a destroyed by massive atomic attack, and since scientists discovered the only existing species, Dr. van Vogt told me that there still is a chance to resurrect this species who hold important information to avoid nuclear weapons to be used on Planet Earth. Due to the serious nature of human's compulsion to kill their species and fight for territory, the scientific community has been exploring ways to reproduce the Ixtl species. They reproduce by laying eggs in the body cavity of a living host. Within six hours of implantation the eggs hatch and feed on its hosts energy until they develop their own force field and can absorb energy directly. These eggs can lie dormant for long periods of time until an appropriate host is found. Scientists are close to creating a host for the many eggs known to exist without the ability to reproduce without a suitable host. Humans have proved to be viable hosts, but ethical conflicts have prevented scientists from using humans to host the six eggs that the only surviving Ixtl had been carrying for billions of years. Through numerous experiments on willing intelligent primates, it has been proven that there is no evidence to suggest that any harm will come to a human who volunteers to be a host to advance our means to protecting our planet against nuclear attack. There are many issues before congress now that I would like to tell you about that have been vetoed by President Bush despite the almost 90% vote to nullify his veto. Stem cell research to improve those stricken by Parkinson disease and other neurological progressive illnesses have prevented scientists and doctors from curing many diseases that inflict many millions of people each year. Despite that there is a motion before the interstellar congress, a subsidiary of our legislature, our President continues to veto rational advances in medical science. In the case of the Ixtl, there has been opposition to cloning and not taking the route of using humans as hosts despite the fact that an alien species and many humane legislators have agreed to assist Dr. Van Vogts efforts to reproduce a species that will help us avoid the possibility of Atomic warfare. Although experimentation on animals is considered by many to be cruel and heartless, in this case even the Primates who have free choice want to help stop the destruction of Planet earth. This again begs the question who is smarter, a chimp or our president as explored on the website bushorchimp.com. This has become such a popular debate that now people are buying a shirt with photographs of the similarities of the two species @ www. Cafepress.com. I think many would not hesitate to vote for one of the most intelligent species, the chimpanzee when compared to the intelligence of which Molly Ivans refers to as a shrub, a bush being too large for such a small man, the chimp would prevail. There are also many other items on this website including Dog T-Shirts. Mikey wants a dog t- shirt saying I pee on Bushes. Mollys request would probably be censored. I have always encouraged my kids to have freedom of thought if their display of words was not too offensive, As Mikey points out, he cant really say what he believes, so he has chosen the least offensive statement on his shirt. What a smart guy!! In past narratives I have noted that many have observed the similarities of appearance of Bush and a Chimp, which many feel is an insult to the population of intelligent primates. They are eager to protect our country in the face of great opposition from our President who apparently does not have the intellect or hides his head in massive denial leaving the citizens of the United States in great peril. Now I think I will look at the many political items on cafepress.com since I saw several tee shirts that reflect my feelings. I am so tired of the Grand Oil Party and am looking forward to a substantial change. Given the chaos on this planet, I wish there were more peace loving and highly intelligent Ixtls and I am certainly ready to go on a voyage with my Space Setters, not to denigrate in any way Mr. A.E. van Vogts brilliant observations in his book, The Voyage of the Space Beagle.

2 for the chimp

That's quite a story Julie...my vote goes for the chimp. Im not sure about the straight line coming from the left eye of the face I am seeing, but I like the textures, colors and abstraction that is going on. Good photo work accompanied with good narrative.

Artist Reply: Thanks Mark. That straight line you refer to is a long tear representing the chaos in the world and the threat of nuclear arms. I would imagine this was a very sad planet since the only threat to its survival was a full blown atomic attack. I like to include a subtext in my narratives referring to life on earth and the frightening possibilities we would have to encounter in another World War. You are very perceptive to have seen the face on this planet and unlike the "man in the moon", his hopeless and despairing expression symbolizes the sadness many of us feel who value the environment, wildlife and the fear intelligent people experience knowing there are madman who are capable of using atomic weapons. Thanks for you comment and as you know it is deeply appreciated coming from such a talented artist as you!
