Great Chief of his people. an important leader of the Lakota as they transitioned from the freedom of the plains to the confinement of the reservation system by the American Government.
Outstanding work and a great tribute to the nobility of this wise Great Chief of the Lakota tribe. You artwork is wonderful as are your words about the injustice of how these wise and dignified people have been mistreated and relegated to the reservation system. I visited an Indian reservation in New Mexico and the poverty and lack of health care is for many a silent tragedy that needs a spokesman like you who portray the spirit of these misunderstood people who have labored to keep the integrity of their lives intact despite the great obstacles and cruelty they have had to encounter. If we think about it, we are the immigrants and when living in Point Dume in Malibu, California, I felt the sacred and powerful spirit of the Chumash tribe that made Point Dume their sacred burial ground and despite attempts to take away their land, owners have to pay monthly to lease their land or buy it from them. At least there is some justice in this crazy world!!
