MAMMA MIA

(c) Art By ASM 2007 This painting is actually a folky representation of a photo of my mother taken when she was 18. I don't have the original photo with me, but when I do I will post it with this painting. "Mamma Mia" of course means "My Mom" or used as a slang when you are shocked or amazed.... Sometimes when I am calling for my mother, I say to her: MAMMA MIA!!!!!! I call my father "PAPPA MIA!" The 5 roses in the hand is a representation of my mother's grandchildren.... My brother's 2 sons: Antonio Vito (JR) Nickname: T.J. (he passed on when he was 4 from a deteriating illness since prebirth. Christian Thomas My sister's kids: Alyssa Rose Anthony Joseph And My Daughter: Sofia Maria So this is an ode to my Mamma! Her name is Maria....The best Mamma ever! Te Amo MAMMA!

For some reason this portrait remembers me Frida Kahlo!!! But I see it's your mother!!! Splendid work, Annamaria! That eyes are fascinating, and the expression too!

Artist Reply: Yes Alberto! I had to make this look ethnic since I come from a very Ethnic Italian Background. So I threw in the Frida Kahlo eyebrows! Great Eye!

Portrait has a 1930s feel to it. The eyes are mezmerizing. Like something that would accentuate an art deco room or should be hanging on the wall with drawing of celebrities as used to adorn the fashionable NY restaurants.

Artist Reply: Thank You! Well the photo of my mother was taken in 1959 in Southern Italy. So let's just say that during that time Italy was still in the 1930's. Still stricken from WWII era. I gave the grey background to the image because it gave me the same feel of the 1930's and in my mom's photo it's a sepia/black and white feel. Thank You Steven for the amazing comment! Keep In Touch!
