His father, Eddie Levert, is the lead singer of the singing group, The O'Jays. I love their music. When I first heard Gerald, I could have sworn he was his father. No one else I knew of, had that voice. I was wrong. Gerald Levert sounded almost exactly like his father. As it sometimes happens, the son was called from his earthbound existence, before the father. He was to go to a higher realm at the age of 40, last year. I will miss his voice, and I know his family still grieves for their loss. As a tribute to his talent, I do this portrait. I also do it in remembrance of The O'Jays, particularly his father, Eddie Levert, who were singing their fantastic songs like, For The Love of Money, Used to be My Girl, Let Me Make Love to You, and Love Train, to name a few, as I listened, and grew into adulthood. They still do in my memories. Gerald Levert is very much missed.
