Many petroglyphs (pecked images) created by the first peoples of Hawai'i can be found throughout the islands. These images can be of humans, birds and animals, or simply symbols. This image shows a human figure and what looks like an outrigger canoe, a vehicle that brought the settlers of these islands from the distant South Pacific. Image copyright Cher Peterson.
