Curse of the Xai-Than

Within the third sphere of Bal-Meth N'gar, otherwise known as the "Plane of Purgatory", there exist the Xai-Than. Beneath the swirling clouds of acid which fill the sky from horizon to horizon, atop the burning blood red sands which sear the flesh and cut like tiny shards of glass, these misshapen atrocities hold dominion. These wretched and unfortunate souls have become so twisted and warped by their own malignancy that the humanity which they once held in such disdain is now all but nonexistent. In life they were cold, cruel, and vicious, and in death they have become the physical embodiment of the negative traits which once governed their lives. These souls should not be feared, but should be pitied, for they serve penance for their former ways, twisted bodies within a harsh and merciless environment. Their cries, both furious and sorrowful, can be heard throughout the sphere.

fabulous digital work...

Great piece and I like the use of the pencils.

Artist Reply: Well, in all honesty only the creature itself is rendered in colored pencil. The background is entirely digital. Most of my work is some combination of pencil/digital manipulation.
