Lunar Photo

This photo was taken on December 30, 2006. This photo won 3rd place in the lunar category at Tristar Astronomy Conference in Greensboro, NC on March 03, 2007. I used a 4.5 tasco luminova telescope and just shot into the eyepiece with my Sony Cybershot H2 digital camera.

I'd guess you didn't use a 300mm lens for this shot. Its no wonder it won a prize but third place sounds a bit mean. Its a first prize surely.

great photo,did you use film or digi? what telescope did you use as well. love the great big cheese

Artist Reply: Thanks so much. Today is my first day on this site and I could only add 3 pictures but I have lots. I just started astrophotography a few months ago. For the cheese moon I used a cheap tasco telescope. I hope to get a better one someday. I just put my digital sony cybershot to the eyepiece and shot away and luckily one turned out pretty good. I was surprised. For the other 2 photos I have during the lunar eclipse saturday I just used my sony cybershot with an attached telephoto lens and they didn't turn out too bad. Love your photos. I hope to get better as time goes by.
