Tree on Sled By: Daniel Staskiews

This is a watercolor paiting copy off of a card that the actual artist of this painting gave me. He gave me a whole stack of cards featuring his art. I am unsure how young Daniel is but he just totally caught me off guard. There is a story to this. I do local community shows. I saw this older man, probably my father or grandfather's age and he had these remarkable paintings featuring days gone by in the past. The way I remember living my life as a kid and the way I want the tradition to carry. His art made me feel warm. He was selling art, prints, cards etc... at this community animal shelter craft/fundraiser fair. It was towards the end and I had walked away, when I came back my best friend who was also selling her jewelry, she told me that Daniel had left me a stack of his cards that were neatly wrapped with ribbon. He just gave them to me as a gift out of no where. I guess it was the connection of laughter we shared becase he was right across from me and maybe the connection that he is a established artist and I was this new yound artist. Two different styles of art but the connection of our creativity. So I immediately hurried and caught him and gave him a bunch of chocolate confections I had made and cocoa that I carry. I was so impressed by the generosity. It's nice to know it's still around. He made us laugh with his quick wit even though after awhile I caught on to his antics! So this is my way of sharing his beautiful art with everyone. You can't find him on the internet, he's just a small town artist that lives in the town I grew up in. This card was printed by L'ARCHE Cleveland and is exclusively used by L'ARCHE. This is from his 1990 Edition. I wish I knew the original name of the painting by I didn't get a chance to ask. When I do, I will share it with all of you. This is a beautiful picture of the traditional Winter & Christmas that I keep close to my heart! So please keep Daniel's kindness in your heart and spread it near and far, because that is truly what this season means and also how we should be. Thank You Daniel for your generosity and your quick jokes! No one gets one of these cards because they mean a lot to me! Now if I can get my hands on one of his paintings! LOL!!!! Hmmmmm? Please out of respect for Daniel Staskiews please do not copy this image. Thank You!

There is a Daniel Staskiews in the nursing home where I volunteer for my church. I noticed art on the wall of his room with his name on it so I asked & he pointed me to a collage of prints that remind me of this work. I was looking on the internet to see if I could find out anything about him and suspect this is the same person. He is in very poor health but next time I visit I will show him this story.
