The Raggedy Man and His Doll

this is what comes of me being up at 2 AM and thinking about a horror movie i'm helping with... the basic idea is a christian horror film. it tells the story of a young man (who comes to be known as "raggedy", or at least, in sarah's and my conversations that is what we called him...) who was raised to be the anti-christ by a sort of extremist cult in new york city. raggedy is a sweet, naiive, almost painfully adorable boy aged 16-20 (we're not sure yet) but is in the mental and emotional state of a 6 or 7 year old. he has been sheltered his whole life, being told he was a prince. a big important factor: raggedy doesn't know of and can't even really comprehend human life. when he sees people moving about, he sees puppets being manipulated by strings held by what he calls "the maskers" and "the feathermen". throughout his whole life, the cult has made raggedy dolls pieced together from real human parts, and he lovingly dresses, primps, and cares for the dolls just as a child would his toys. he has been raised and secluded so that he might not know the difference between good and evil. his view of reality is altered and much different than what the rest of us see. this will be literally shown in the film in an all- or mostly-animated way when in raggedy's POV, a combination of 3D animation, rotoscoping, and maybe childlike crayon/pastel animated drawings. the background picture is of my friend sean. the girl in the foreground is me. it's sort of hard to see, but the fill-in of the letters is blue yarn. the editing, effects, and text were done in PSP. most of the effects were lacquer, coloured foil, coloured edges, and a gothic painting effect.
