The Carbon Moraine

All along this trail you have off-and-on contact with the river and then back into the forest. During this stretch, the trail is along the mountainside, most of it rock and 15 to 20 feet above the river. On this hike there was evidence of the river washing away it's banks, causing the trail above to slide. There is only so much room to move over. You never know in the winter if you will make it to the glacier or not. We have had to turn around many times and usually at a different spot each time. When I took this shot, I became anxious to be at the yellow place upstream. I hoped the sun would cooperate when we got there... :)
