Room for Two

Before I move on to last Friday's hike (on a new trail for us), I would like to share these few photos taken in 2004 at the Tolmie Peak Lookout. Most times when we are up there, the place is boarded up, even tho you can always climb the stairs and have lunch on the catwalk. On this day in mid Oct. of 2004 you could see inside of the living quarters. It is set up much the same as when the lookout was used for firewatch, along with many other lookouts in stratigic locations on the tops of other peaks. If you are a volunteer with the parks dept, you can stay overnight, one night only, and watch the sun rise over heaven.....east is to the left. The hot tub rules??...a joke between the park rangers. I can't tell you how long my daughter and I looked for it. The next time we saw one of our favorite rangers, we asked him where it was and he just chuckled. HA, HA, HA!!! (The red bandana is my daughter's head as she sits at the rail.)
