I think I'm gonna have to break down and buy a book on these plentiful guys, in case I get lost in the woods and am hungery. I'm embarassed to say that I don't know the difference between a good mushroom and a bad mushroom...and I love mushrooms!! It was just amazing to see the large variety. Once in a while you see one that has been nibbled by an animal. Glad that they know the difference. Thanks so much for visiting!!! :)

Gorgeous photos of what look to be Lactarius Delisiosus, and they ARE (delicious)! But be certain they have gills that tend to go down the stem a ways, and when you break the cap, orange colored liquid comes out. For a great book on shroom identities, I recommend: THE NATIONAL AUDUBON SOCIETY-Field Guide To Mushrooms. Not expensive, either, on Amazon.

The upper ones look like Boletes, quite edible, the bottom ones are quite poisonous, so don't touch those!! Way too many people die every year because something looks good to eat!! Always make certain by taking a spore sample, and comparing that to an authoritative book on mycology!! Mary, these are both beautiful captures, and I am certain a mycologist would fall deeply in love with them!! Wonderful work!! ~S

Cool shots of mushrooms. I don't know what kind these are either, they look very beautiful though, never have run across any so luscious looking as those top ones. Excellent nature shot Mary!

I don't know much about what mushrooms are safe or not either, but these are really interesting looking. I've never seen ones like the bottom image before.
