This is my first abstract Collage/Paiting.
According to the dictionary, collage art
is an artistic composition, made of
various materials glued on a surface.
The word comes from the French word
"coller," meaning to glue or to paste.
Collage art is unique because you take
already existing materials to design
your own piece of art.
All you need is an open mind and the
willingness to explore.
I love using traditional methods and
materials in a total unexpected way.
I used different kind of paper, acrylic
paint, ink, pencil, Rhine stones and
golden ribbon.
I wanted to give "the PIANO" an old look
by painting the music sheets and backround with
raw sienna which give the collage this antique
feel.
Purposely I was leaving some light
areas to provide the eye to travel
throughout the piece.
For "the PIANO" I was influenced by my
musical background and by a strong
sense of color (earth tones)
After I almost finished my collage I
glued the canvas board on a larger
canvas, to incorporate the piece and to
give it the desired depth.
Dimensions:
Size middle canvas
board:
20"X24".
Size stretched canvas
24"x30" (61.03x76.2 cm) with gallery
wrapped edges over wooden frame.
Painted staple free sides.
Painting doesn't need a frame.
