harmony in austin

"harmony in austin" is approximately 24 X 40 inches, oils painted on heavy recycled plywood. The painting is signed "B.B.", and it is finished in a thin, black painted frame hand-crafted from recycled wood. I painted "harmony in austin" just after I married my wife, Kathy. It was Kathy who suggested I include references to Austin, Texas in my paintings (and thus the Texas State Capitol in the upper left of the painting). It was Kathy who suggested the dragon in the painting, the tao lettering, the colors, the three cats. Simply put, without my wife, Kathy, "harmony in austin" would never have been painted. In fact, it was essentially Kathy's artistic energy I tried to capture in "harmony in austin". So confident was I that I had indeed captured that artistic energy of hers, that upon the completion of the painting, I claimed immediately that I was no longer interested in working full-time at an hourly job again. As it turned out, Kathy did not have quite as much creative energy as I thought, and I returned to my full-time hourly job for another several months.
