Fountains Abbey

Pastel on Canson Mi-Teintes Paper, I am very lucky to live close to many ancient monuments and Fountains Abbey is one of the most beautiful. On a recent visit I made several sketches and reference photos. I painted this image as a work up to painting a larger and more complex painting.
