****Sold,similar work available NOW**** Moonlit Maple is a contemporary oil painting with applied gold leaf. The background to the work is a dark but vivid blue and texture and interest has been added by use of hatched brush strokes. Two layers of imitation gold leaf have been used to represent the leaves and on top of this varnish has been applied thickly and allowed to pool to give a striking watermarked effect. Later the leaf veins have been suggested by a further painting with oils. Together this dulls back the gold, which while still striking is not brash. A fun piece of art.
