Cactus Needles LaceKalidiscope

This is a photo that I took of a section of my barrel cactus from my garden. I manipulated it into a kalidiscope/mandala design. To me, it appears to look like a lacey web design. It would be one I would not touch as the needles are very sharp, and grow about 1-2 1/2 inches long. I did not alter the photo other than to create the design.

What a wonderful imagination you have! This is so imaginative, especially with using cactus needles!

Artist Reply: Thank you Carliss! I'd be the one you wouldn't want to leave to experiment in a DNA research lab. I'd be in there altering all sorts of things. LOL!

Beautiful mandala...I been doing nature mandalas for years, twirling photo samples around a center. I think it captures the essence of the plant, animal, etc...kind of like visual DNA.

Artist Reply: Thanks Sara! I have seen yours are admire them! I used to do some with markers, always loved making them. I used to cur up photos to create them, this is a lot easier! It does show the most noticible part of the plant, and in a lovely design. I love looking and studying sections of plants to see the natural designs, so thes designs are a out growth from that interest.

Excellent Terry

Artist Reply: Thanks Loredana! I'm glad this type cactus needle is not one the jackrabbits eat. They love to eat off the ones on my prickly pear cactus. The barrel cactus, they never touch.
