Tui

NZ native Tui, my favourite bird in the world. Nearly wiped out by rats and introduced species like feral cats and Opossums. But now undergoing a resurgance thanks to a concerted effort by the department of conservation. It has amazing plumage and you've never heard a birdsong like the Tui's, an amazing repertoire of trills, chirps, squawk's, quintessentially Kiwi.Wonderful and uplifting to hear the Tui's calls in the deep bush.

Nice image. Nice to see it enjoying itself in the wild. Saw one in a cage in Fielding, New Zealand. Even the caged bird sings though and it definately has a unique repetoire of sounds.
