White Monjita (Little Nun)

May 4, 2006 - 8" x 10" - 2B Graphite on 70lb acid free Strathmore art paper.

Reference photo was used with permission from James Ownby.

From Argentina the "White Monjita is a member of the flycatcher family. As monja is the Spanish word for nun, the name of this bird translates as "little nun," appropriate considering its striking white plumage trimmed in black. White Monjita is sometimes seen around cemeteries, where it is taken to be the spirit of a resident there." -- James Ownby

Ana, after looking at your most recent drawing of the blue jay, I must say you have come a long, long way in a very short time! This is lovely work, but the blue jay....there are no words to say just how perfect the drawing is! Keep up the great work!
