Jewel Of A Lifetime

'Jewel Of A Lifetime' is part of The Songs Series, worked in 2004 in collaboration with Steve Tugwell, from his first CD. This is the third generation of the song, 'Jewel Of A Lifetime'.

I'm not waiting for my embedded gold jewel of a lifetime
And I don't mind a little anticipation in between
Day and night, work and home, it's a journey, a frantic passage
It's unreal and I'm getting older than you feel, getting older than you feel.
copyright 2001; Steve Tugwell, Sleep

When I worked with Steve's songs, the first generation was to do all of the songs on Sleep. They came up to be worked in a different order from the way they were listed on the CD. When I mentioned that to Steve, he burned a new CD in the order they came up for me, and we both felt the CD was stronger in the energetic order they came up to be painted.

I chose foamboard as the support for this Series so that I could emboss the surface before and during painting, giving it additional texture and depth of interest copyright 2004; Loree Harrell

Loree - so excellent! So much to look at - it is life itself. A reminder of everything, every movement every breath that everone is taking in the world all in one view. That is what this say's to me. YOU ARE REMARKABLE. I do believe I have met an artist of a lifetime in you. Never stop painting your work is a treasure. Definately something to be protected so that EVERYONE can see it.

Artist Reply: ... there he is. Thank you, Michael. Your comments always touch me - today more than most.

Loree, excellent oil and such detail, you are a genius with this work. My question, are you taking care of yourself amongst your business. This is a great oil. miguel

Well, you can actually see some of the texture on this magnificent piece, there is so much here to take in - I really like this series of yours, and can appreciate the effort taken to produce such fine and detailed art.

Artist Reply: Thank you, Joseph - these pieces are fun for me, because when I show them, people instinctively reach to feel them, then catch themselves. The fun part is when I let them... I love this job!
