Inferno

This painting was done on a whim. I had stapled a piece of canvas to my apartment wall during summer break and had tossed up some contrasting colors for fun. Exercise in spontaneity, you know... A few days later, as I was sitting there looking at it, I began to see natural highlights and shadows in the paints. I picked up my brush and started pulling those out and eventually, working in the dragon from what was there. This is by far my favorite way to paint. You never know what you are going to get, but instead allow the paints to give you a starting point. Prints are available on www.babylonink.com Copyright 2006 - Virginia Huling
