Female Matador...(c)...2003..Elton Houck...

(C) 2003 Elton Houck...I used to read all the books in the high school library about bull fighting. It was my dream to be the first North Americano' to become a famous bull figher,,,first in Mexico and then Spain...Only problem was I did not like the concept of wearing down the creature and then ramming a sword blade between its shoulder blades to puncture its heart and lungs...and I did not relish the idea of being gored and having the bull's horns rip into my stomach or thigh and have the creature spin me around on the horns before dislodging my bleeding body and then trampling on me...It was like the "GLORY OF WAR" which is all gallant and wonderous when it exists only on the pages of a book or as a daydream...When the bullets and bombs are going off all around you and friends and buddies are being blown to bits and killed, the glory of war like the glory of bullfighting seems to vanish with the harsh reality that death is only a breath away.

wow I really like your text because indeed you express what you wanted to be and then saw the terrible reality of it and you matched it so well with war. excellent comparison. I also like your art in which its not a male matador but a female that is so unique. You also put different colors too. Also the fact that she looks strong and big.. great work!!!
