Govanbuilt

A painting from my period at the shipyards of the Clyde in Glasgow, Scotland. I saw the construction of this ship, the "Norsea" through from the laying of the first steel to the launching and fitting out...so this was a celebration of a wonderful time. The tugs and the cranes always seemed to fuss over the ship, like nurses....and everything seemed to be imbued with it's own life force. This painting was accepted for the Royal Glasgow Institute show and subsequently sold to the shipbuilding company.

This is an excellent piece Iain, you've managed to capture a period of time with this painting, I especially like the colours and composition that help create the atmosphere, ....a painting to be proud of.
