Birth of Venus

ACEO card 2.5"x3.5". Inspired by Early Renaissance Italian Painter Boticelli(1445-1510). Pen & Ink, Watercolor,Gouache. Venus also known as Aphrodite, was born from the foam of the sea. She represents beauty. I painted her born from the Lotus, a flower of beauty and purity, which is symbolic in Buddhism. It grows out of swamp water; but itself isn't stained, just like our true nature isn't stained. Venus born out of the lotus represents our potential to realize our beauty within ourselves.
