Sphere

a study on HDRI. i know its rediculusly simple, its not supposed to be a 'work of art' its just me puting the stuff up here as i learn about it :-)

try putting a large sphere in the scene, cutting it in half so it's just a dome, and projecting the map cylindrically around it. you may want to notch up the ambient color of whatever you're mapping it from. it really does look good, though. also, i don't know why, but when i render out in MR using FG and an HDRI, i can never get that shadow you have. any help?

This is a piece of art in my opinon...after all I don't know a lot of people (with out a lot of experince) that can get a sphere to look this real...IT looks like a piece of candy or a glass bead.

Well, not bad at all... Working with HDRI is not that easy as many people think, so - this work is cool. This is probably Maya render, an if so - I'm not sure if you were using 'final gathering' in it's full scale (thinking about radius and min and max factors, bla, bla, bla). Never mind - this is more than good.
