18,551 Galaxie 500/XL convertibles were produced in 1963.In keeping with Ford's "Total Performance" theme the XL could be equiped with a variety of V-8 engines including the 427 cid rated at 425 bhp.The big Galaxies made it to the winner's circle of every 500 mile NASCAR race that year.
