This is the area that has the highest tides in the world. You have heard of the Bay of Funday perhaps? There are parts of the bay where the tides go up 13 metres between low and high tide. The Minas Basin is part of the narrow bay and here tides can go up to 15 or 16 metres! When the tide is out, you can feel you are walking on the ocean floor. Here, the red sandstone and clay cliffs have been eroded to form a seastack or flower pots, where trees continue to grow on the shrinking tower of rock. The Bay of Funday is between Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, in Atlantic Canada.
