Somewhere in the Rockies

I spent five days in the Rocky Mountains of Alberta this past September. I only went on a couple of short day hikes, even though I was tempted to take off down any of the longer trails. So, most of my photos came from roadside stops, which often occured rather suddenly as a scene revealed itself and I had to make a quick decision to stop or press on. I am still sorting through all the photos I took and I can't remember if this photo was taken in Jasper or Banff. I'll find out soon enough. But this image caught my attention when I was quickly selecting images for scanning. The image was captured as seen without filters and didn't get any colour manipulation later on.

i love this shot. it would be an awesome oil painting...large scale.

Artist Reply: It's funny you should say that. I often comment on paintings that they would make lovely photographs.

You live in a marvelous world. I know from experience how difficult it is to do justice to an awesome landscape. Given the beauty of your photograph, the real thing must have been beyond words. They say that a picture says 1000 words.... well this one is 1000 prayers.

Artist Reply: Thank you, Yuri. What a beautiful comment.
