Over the years the name "Cobra" has been applied to several high performance Ford products. In 1969 a more or less plain Torino coupe was fitted with the 428 c.i.d. Cobra-Jet V-8 to compete with the Dodge Super Bee and Plymouth Road Runner. In 1970 the 428 was replaced with the NASCAR derived 429. The car sold at a base price of $3,270.
