I paint realistically, but love your calligraphic treatment of the action of waves here --more evocative of the sea than any detailed depiction could be.

Hi Jess! Sorry, I am not a member here but at least I get to post. My name is Wayne, and we know each other via Etsy. Anywho, quoting Marilyn Servais, "someones see a sky ... i see an angry and beautiful ocean !" I am in total agreement. Strains of Debussy's "La Mer" come to mind (one of my favorite classical pieces, btw). Not sure if the ocean theme is what you were going for here, but it works very well. Loving your work and hope to be able to purchase soon! All best, Wayne
Now, this reminds me of cold cold winter... must be the colours?? Yet, it is a warm painting.... nice that you could do that~!!

another note. over worked in the second patch of white.also this white is not subtled down enough in relation to the rest of the work. good depth and overlaying though.
I really like the energy in the brushstrokes and how that contrasts to the almost monochromatic, beautifully restricted pallette...the strokes approach calligraphy in the bottom...a favorite idea of mine.
