Ephedra

I like to try to bring you unusual flowers and plants. This is the flower of Ephedra. It measures no more than a half inch long, if that. You may recall that ephedra products were used to help people lose weight, but the FDA has clamped down on their sale. Notice that the plant itself is nothing but stems (you can see some leaves on the extreme upper left hand corner, but they are very small). I found this flower on one of the trails at Picacho Peak, Arizona. © Pat Goltz Thank you for your comments. I greatly appreciate them!
