April on Black

April is the Morgan X mare owned by my aunt. April is no longer with us. I have had the reference photo for this pastel pencil on suede mat board for 20 years and finally got up the courage to paint it. April is scratching an itch on her leg with her nose... or an itch on her nose with her leg!
