Topographic Red Sunset
Layered Acrylic on canvas
Copyright Rodney S. Leon 2005
Topographic Realism: a dynamic style new to the art world (as of June 2005)is a cross between abstract topographic layering and photorealism as a new advanced offshoot of Impressionism that bridges abstract and realistic imagery by using planes of color instead of dots.
Thickly Layered Acrylic on Canvas
This new style is the bridge between Abstract and Realism!
It's the opposite of normal viewing.
Normally you come closer to see more detail.
When you're close up they look abstract.
Far away they look photographically real.
Hold up a mirror (or used CD) and look at these in the reflection to see how they look from far away.
The only drawback is how tedious it is to plan and execute 10-60 layers!
