Stay Safe, Simone

As many of you know I am proudly Canadian. Last June my neice Simone graduated from RCMP training, and has been posted just north of Edmonton, AB.

I drew this picture of her as a young girl dressed in an oversized mountie uniform. She will always be my sweet neice, and right now she is tender in experience with the force.

This past March, 4 junior RCMP officers were killed in a raid on a suspected marijuana grow op near Mayerthorpe Alberta, not far from from her detachment. The single worst multiple killing of RCMP officers in modern Canadian history. When we heard of the shootings we feared she might have been involved. She was not.

Stay safe, Simone. And to ALL our dedicated peacekeepers, you have our utmost respect. To those 4 officers, Rest in Peace.

Beautifully done Dianne. There have been a few wonderful paintings done to honor the brave ones who lost their lives...and those still dedicated to preserving what good we have. I hope your neice stays safe too. This is really lovely work!

What a wonderful picture and thoughts to go with it. I am terribly sad to hear of the death of the mounties..it is always a terrible loss...I wish Simone safe as well.
