58 feet by 10 feet wood, screws, 2by4,2by6, 2by12, and a hell'va lot of painT!! St. Paul Park founded in 1887 - A City in 1974 St. Paul Park became an incorporated Village in 1887. It presented an attractive site for development with access to the Mississippi river by steam boat and to trade centers by Chicago Milwaukee & St. Paul and Burlington & Northern Railroads. An offer of free land brought factories along the river, hotels for workers and the Opera House for pleasure (entertainment). Jewels of St. Paul Park built in 1888: Parker House Hotel, Railway Depot, Presbyterian Church, Muckle Sleigh Co.,-(Maraton Oil bldg) St. Thomas Catholic Church (1905), 2 room Red Brick School, High School (1890), St. Pauls College (1890), Masonic Temple (1913), Park High School (1936), Opera House. The boom lasted a decade, with no free money, many factories and hotels closed and were burned. The Parker House was moved to Newport, but also burned. In spite of this early gloom, the Park has survived
