Haunted

Just for fun, I painted a daylight scene as it might look in the moonlight. Not good, not bad - but kind of fun. Oil on canvas

I feel a bit silly admitting this, but for the last two years wneeevhr I see something cute for babies, I buy it. That way I now have a small collection of beautiful things for my child that is not even here yet (though hopefully will be soon). Your blanket (gray edge) should absolutely be in that collection, together with the Apple Papple print I already have from your shop!

Beautifly done. I did a painting a while back like that-- from day to night. It is kind of fun to see how it will turn out.

Artist Reply: Thank you, Cindy! Yes it was fun to view a daylight scene and imagine how it might look at night!

You know, though it's entitled Haunted, I can actually feel something dark and empty, steeped in time for too long. The sky is wonderful right from the stars down to the soft glow of the clouds. I can see children walking past this and saying it's haunted. Great mood.

Awesome work Betty! You did really well in interpreting the moon light on the driveway, and highlighting the house and everything... Wonderfully done! Your colour tones are superb! Excellent atmosphere! Fabulous oil painting :o)

Artist Reply: Ho, ho, everyone! I simply re-scanned the slide and made it larger. Now it is big but slightly distorted! Ah well - I do try!

This is a great paining! What a great mental excercise to consider how a change in light will effect every object you are painting.
