Character Draft: Maja

This picture was done for a pitch. It was supposed to become a 3D model, so that´s why the weird positioning. Pencil, Ink and colored pens (I also made corrections with Photoshop). For the pitch I had to follow exact guidelines for the color and look of this character, this is why I added some erasable notes with pencil. ©2004 Carolin Schweizer, Character Design Arts. There are a touch of mastery here, ballance and commitment ,not one line to many , no detail without meaning .

Nice style. Who are your prime influences and how long have you been drawing? Keep up the wonderful work!

Artist Reply: thank you for your kind words. My influences are reality. I love observing anything that looks beautiful. Then I add my style, e.g. I always draw very long legs. Though this picture had exact requirements. The people who made the pitch (which was being canceled in the end, so nobody won), told me precisely how she was supposed to look like. E.g. she has to look something in between Sandra Bullock, Cameron Diaz and Demi Moore, she has to look sporty but not like a body builder, she has to have a short top in red or white maybe both, dark pants, straight hair, bunette, her accessories are a sporty watch and sunglasses... ... everything is determined, yet it is difficult to come up with something that fulfills all of these requirements. I never really started drawing, I do it eversince, although never excessively. Since I am 14 I earn my pocket money with it. But it is not enough for a living. Occasionally there is a big job, but I cannot count on that. Hope I answered your question, all the best to you, and everyone who was so kind of taking the time to comment on my pictures! Thank you.
