Walk any beach or waterfront development and you will find natures coexistence and semi-tolerance of Mans development and intrusions. Pelicans have a distinct high archivey and pecking Order. As I strolled along a man made sea wall I came upon a large gathering of Pelican. The Alpha male made himself known and bolted in front of the pack. The whole time I was there with my Camera in hand, the Pelican in charge kept me under his Scrutiny. Through a series of painted layers, masking, channel separations, filters and extensive use of digital paint brushes, Thom's original digital photo has been transformed into this incredible artistic image of nature which has become one of his most popular and memorable paintings.
