Ptarmigan Shadows

Willow Ptarmigan in winter are pure white. They are hidden sitting perfectly still in the wide open snow ... now put them in a bit of grass and they are practically impossible to see. I've been wanting to do a sketch like this for some time, but I rushed this. I normally don't blend with my fingers but I was lazy and impatient. It could have been so much better. and less hazy .... plus the Ptarmigans aren't as invisible as I would have liked. I'm thinking that I'll redo a simular one sometime and write this off as a practice piece.

This is beautiful. The birds are so vulnerable, I want to throw them some food! great work!

The birds look so soft and delicate, I love this.
