Hindsight

This is one of my earliest pieces yet many of my friends still consider it one of their favorites. The original remains in my personal collection as it is very dear to me.

I was working on this drawing late one night while the news was out that Princess Diana had been in a car accident. My husband was out in the livingroom keeping vigil at the TV while I worked on this drawing in my studio listening to the radio for any updates.

Suddenly my husband ran into the studio in disbelief and I never thought it possible I'd hear the words, "She died!"

That just wasn't supposed to happen! Not to her! Shortly after as I sat at my drawing board thinking of her two sons who'd just lost their mother a lady on the radio came on and fighting back the tears confirmed the sad news to her listeners.

On the original of this portrait I can still find the spot where I'd wiped away some tears.

This portrait is very approprately named, "Hindsight".

I've decided after all these years to have prints made of this one too. Let me know if you're interested.
