Moreno Glacier

The Perito Moreno Glacier in Los Glaciares National Park in Argentina is one of the world's few advancing glaciers. Because it flows into Lake Argentino its massive glacial wall - up to 70 metres high - can be fully appreciated. Most glaciers end in dirty tongues that bury themselves in the rubble they scour from the landscape. Minolta 801si alpha, 100-300mm lens, Fujichrome Velvia, no filter, no colour manipulation. beautiful but strange... why this picture made me feel warm?

Artist Reply: When I was there I was so excited I didn't notice that there was a cold wind blowing at all. This kind of stuff builds an inner fire in me.

Great sharp contrast in the upper part of the photo and in the texture of the glacier.

amazing so alive!

Artist Reply: You should hear it. This ice is moving forward and constantly snapping, cracking and breaking apart. It's pretty exciting.
