Brandism is ideas, thoughts and experiences which I have received during my work as Art Director and graphical artist. I have the privilege to have experienced two worlds, two languages within graphic communication, our visual language. Art and advertisement. I have experienced an increasing polarization and that we have borrowed more expressions from popular culture including the art world to put a mask in front our on purpose with advertisement (Olivero Toscanis in Benetton campaignes, Circus Circor, among others) Can also art be masqueraded? Art that now works with brands I now can reflect over ( Absolut Art, Tomato, Christian Beijer among others). Beautiful brands, beautiful art and beautiful advertisement all and one at the same time. A part of the art project consist of works which I have created that knowingly shall provoke and stretch on the term, when art becomes advertisement, when advertisement becomes art. Do we look at a work by Barbara Kruger with different eyes if we see it at a public place. Do our emphaty increase with brands in an a artistic context? What is it then?
