Hoopers Inlet

Boatsheds on the Otago Peninsula. Thirteenth in my current series of New Zealand landscape oil paintings and last one on the Otago Peninsula near Dunedin for now. From here the next few listings take us to mountanous snow country around the famous Milford Sound. This quaint little boatshed is one of several along the interesting track called Beach Road that winds its way around Hoopers Inlet to Allans Beach. There are a couple more Boatsheds like this one that I am thinking about featuring in a painting and maybe I will do that later but for now this is the one I chose. The hill in the background is a geological landmark called Harbour Cone which is sandwhiched between Larnach Castle on one side and the interesting little waterside village of Portobello on the other. 2005 Oil on Canvas Panel 14" x 11"

This is wonderful. Nice horizontal and vertical lines in your composition. Nice reflection in the water. I like the focal point.
