Alderwood Stream

Inspired by deciduous forest streams of southern California mountains gushing with rain and snowmelt in the spring. My focus for the work was the interplay of light and objects: reflected light and backlight effects. Elements came from reference photos of various wooded habitats. Oil on canvas, 12"x18" (framed); 1983.

Etherieal. Really nice handling of the textures. Interesting approach to the leaves... something seems a little strange to me about the leaves on the white-barked trees, but I can believe they really looked like that.
