Chinatown-Lai Chun Yuen Theatre.

This theatre housed in a 3-storey building was centrally located in Chinatown was the centre of entertainment in those days till it was damaged during the second world war. Cantonese opera was a very popular entertainment during that time, now it becomes a place for artistic dance and drama activities.

A wonderful painstaking and skilful mastery of this watercolour subject. This love picture has the accuracy and disciplined quality of a line and wash technique. Love the detail on the baskets and the contrast of tones of the sun filled street and the shadows falling across the balcony. Love it!

I feel as if I could walk right onto this street.. the depth you are able to obtain with the watecolour is amazing.. the sky is awesome.. the street scene is just stunning in its detailing - you haven't forgotten a thing I am sure! Absolutely amazing!! Your palette of colours fabulous.. like a rainbow, and your use of shading and blending with them masterful!! Perfect watercolour painting Francis!! :o)
