Angel of Spring

Angel of Spring Bearing the promise of new beginnings. 9x12 bristol board. I tried something different with his artwork of mine combined graphite pencil with colored pencil traditionally a big nono in art but it's fun sometimes breaking the rules ;)

Amazing.....a spark of colour lights the artwork right up. It reminds me of things, and in the case of this painting it reminds me that a beauty can come from flowers though slowly dying and lightly the lives of those saddened. And though the flowers wither and fade..........the lives of those flowers have meant something to someone.......even though now they have died!!!!!!!!.........i'm glad you broke the ruless as you say lol........sometimes amazing things can happen by experimenting;)

I love the touch of colour. What is the big nono. The use of coloured pencil or the combination of pencil and coloured pencil? Of course there are also coloured graphite sticks.

Artist Reply: Hi Diana :) thank you so much for your comments :) yes usually they say it's not good to mix graphite with coloured pencils only because it can smudge colors and get graphite in places were you don't want it to be-but i found working with both graphite&coloured pencils fun :)
